African Forestry is proud to share coverage of Dark Earth
Carbon’s local stakeholder consultation in collaboration with Atmosfair on
sustainable biochar production that was held in Iringa Mafinga at the Forestry
and wood Industries Training Center.
Biochar is a powerful long lasting soil amendment. They get their
name from Terra Preta, or Amazonian Dark Earth. These are places in the Amazon
where people used char thousands of years ago to improve the fertility of their
soils, and the benefits can still be seen today.
Scalable, cost effective carbon removal that directly impacts
African Smallholder farmers that face soils with low nutrient density due
traditional slash and burn farming and heavy weathering
