The New Forests Company Tanzania launched an innovative pilot program.

 

The New Forests Company Tanzania launched an innovative new Shared Value pilot program with neighboring communities, known as "Forests For Prosperity" or MKM in Swahili for "Misitu Kwa Maendeleo".

Four Community Associations signed performance agreements with the Foundation to reduce the risks of fire, charcoal and theft while promoting conservation and biodiversity monitoring on the Plantation. Communities will be paid according to their performance - in addition to having access to financial literacy, business skills and low interest loans through a banking partner. Local district leadership, the financial partner, village leaders and Association representatives, the Foundation, TZ Head of Forestry (Nkululeko Lionel Dlamini), CSR PM (Bahati Sostenes), CIO (Candice Taylor) and Company Operations Director (Matt Merrick) were all in attendance.
